http://ift.tt/2tM6BF9 DIY!I'm hoping for some assistance with something.Just bought a house that had some projects that need to be done. One of them is the front porch post is in need of replacing. It appears that there was a wall torn down or a porch opened up- you can see a line on the concrete where it looks like a wall used to be- and then the post was moved to the outer edge of the overhang. I believe that the lateral box is the support that is in place for that overhang and that the pillar is supposed to be underneath that. So when I do get this replaced, it will be under that support. My questions are:What type of wooden pillar/column would be most appropriate for this spot, so that it avoids rotting at the bottom like this post has? I was thinking about one of these: http://ift.tt/2sQhD7W but looking for input. How do I affix it to the concrete and the support above? How do I secure the gutter drain so that it doesn't blow Willy-nilly in the wind? Thanks in advance! Sorry if any of this was soups unclear. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2strwJc
